The City of Riverbank is a general law city, governed by a City Council/City Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of five members, selected through a municipal election to serve a four-year term, including the Mayor. Elections are conducted on staggered terms so transition of a continuing measure is maintained from one Council to the next.

The City Council also serves as the Riverbank Redevelopment Agency, Local Redevelopment Authority, and the Public Financing Authority.  These boards meet on an "as needed" basis.

The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. except on the second Monday of every quarter, when it meets at 12-noon.  The months of the quarterly meetings are January, April, July, and October of each year.  The Council meetings are held in the City Council Chamber located at 6707 Third Street in downtown Riverbank.  If you have any questions regarding meeting dates, times, or location, please contact the Administration office at 209-863-7122.
