As an Elections Official, the City Clerk administers Federal, State, and Local procedures through which local government representatives are elected. The Clerk assists candidates in meeting their legal responsibilities before, during, and after an election. From Election pre-planning to certification of election results and filing of final campaign disclosure documents, the City Clerk manages the process which forms the foundation of our democratic system of government.

Eligiblity to hold office:

  • a U.S. Citizen
  • 18 yrs. of age on or before election day
  • a registered voter of the City of Riverbank at the time nomination papers are issued for candidacy

 

NOMINATION PERIOD (Forms available to run for office)

Begins:  Monday, July 16, 2012, at 8:00 a.m.  Papers are available at the City Clerk's Office, 6707 Third Street, Riverbank.

 

*Ends:   Friday, August 10, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. This is the last day and time for filing the nomination papers, if an incumbent has filed papers.

 

                *Extention of Period:  If an incumbent has not filed nomination papers  by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012, the nomination period is extended for all Riverbank registered voters (except incumbents) and will officially close on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. 

 

 

How to begin:  If you want to begin raising funds for your campaign for office or create a compaign committee, you must begin with the requirements of the  Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC)This is a great place to begin familiarizing yourself with all the filing requirements.

WE WELCOME YOU TO GET INVOLVED:

  • Attend City Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month (excluding the 4th Monday in December) at 7:00 p.m., at the City Hall Council Chambers, 6707 Third Street. 
  • Visit the City's web site at Council Meetings to obtain the City Council agendas, staff reports, and minutes on past and current action taken by Council.

You may register to vote in California if:

  • You are a United States citizen
  • You are a resident of California
  • You are at least 18-years of age (or will be by the date of the next election)
  • You are not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction
  • You have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent
