Did you know?

The Season is upon us!

It is the Holiday Season.  Where did the year go?  The City of Action is in the midst of a lot of action in the downtown area.  Storm water, sewer, and water pipes are being replaced as part of the Downtown Beautification Project which began in the fall.  When completed, downtown Riverbank will have a whole new look, complete with a park (Plaza del Rio) at the corner of Third and Santa Fe Streets.

The Crossroads Shopping Center is still growing with current work that includes a Chevron gas station and Save Mart Supermarket.  A Best Buy is planned to open in 2008.

In January, the Community Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, January 26, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Riverbank Community Center.  This annual event is the evening set aside to announce the new Man of the Year/Citizen of the Year (or MOY/COY, as it is fondly referred to), the new Youth of the Year (or YOY), and the Business of the Year (or BOY).  The MOY/COY Club, which is comprised of Man of the Year and Citizen of the Year recipients, select the winners from the MOY/COY and YOY nominees.  The BOY is selected by Riverbank Chamber of Commerce members.  Dinner tickets will go on sale in early January, $17.00 per person.

Also in 2008, terms expire for City Mayor Christopher Crifasi, Vice Mayor Virginia Madueño, and Councilmember Kathy Anaya.  In November, Riverbank residents will decide who will help move the City forward.

As we wrap up 2007, the City is working with the Salvation Army Extension to provide toys for local needy kids and lap blankets for the elderly.  If you can donate to either program, please call Norma at 209-863-7153.

The City of Riverbank staff would like to wish you and your family, a very, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
