Did you know?

Happy New Year Riverbank!

It is officially 2007, currently the month of January.  The United States is still at war with Iraq and Afghanistan; our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, continue the fight for our freedom.  We are proud of our troops and wish them Godspeed.

Upcoming Winter Events

Upcoming events in 2007 include the Community Awards Banquet on January 20, starting at 6:00 p.m.  This event is co-sponsored by the City and the Man of the Year/Citizen of the Year Committee (fondly referred to as MOY/COY).  Musical entertainment is provided by local artists Velvet Jazz and dinner is catered by Arnie Hof of Escalon.  Dinner tickets are $15.00 per person and are available for purchase from MOY/COY members (previous winners) and at City Hall.  Please purchase your tickets before they run out!

Upcoming Spring Events

Riverbank hosts its annual Sam Jackson Spring Clean Day where volunteers come together to clean up the City – a “Spring-cleaning”, if you will.  Graffiti is removed or painted over, overgrown weeds are knocked down, parks are spruced up, and on occasion murals are painted (see the mural at the northeast corner of Third & Santa Fe Streets, and the snack shack at Castleberg Park).  This year’s event will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31; volunteers should pre-register with the City at 6617 Third Street or sign in at the Scout Hall, 3017 High Street, the day of the event.  In its 8th year, Spring Clean has seen over 1,000 people come in to help beautify Riverbank.  Whether volunteers were raking leaves, planting trees or flowers, or picking up garbage in the alleys, by the end of the day we knew we made a difference.  Won’t you join us this year?

Upcoming Summer Events

As the weather changes, the City prepares for its Farmers’ Market & More, a certified market for fresh produce, and a place to find great barbeque, a variety of entertainment, and vendors from all over the County selling their crafts, plants, or pastries.  Beginning May 30 and ending September 5 (tentative schedule), the Riverbank Farmers’ Market has become one of the best markets in the area.  Market hours are from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening.  Entertainment usually begins at 6:00 p.m.
