Law enforcement services for the City of Riverbank are
performed under contract with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's
Department.
Patrol,
general investigations, traffic enforcement, crime prevention
and business office functions are performed by personnel
assigned to Riverbank Police Services. A wide array of services
is also provided by specialized units operating from the
Sheriff's Operations Center at 250 East Hackett Road in
Modesto. These services include the investigation of felony
assaults, crimes against children, fraud, narcotics, gang and
street crimes, along with specialized crime prevention and youth
services programs.
Riverbank Police Services has a resource table in the lobby
with helpful literature on State, County and local information.

Services Available at your Police
Facility
-
Fingerprinting services – are available at the Sheriff’s
Operations Center, 250 East Hackett Road, Modesto and at
Modesto Police Department, 600 10th Street,
Modesto. We no longer fingerprint or do Live Scan at this
office, please contact the main office at 525-7114 for
information on days and time for fingerprinting and Live
Scan.

Found or seized property - call the Property Clerk at
869-7162 or 863-7106
to inquire about property; property is released by
appointment only. To obtain a release of property,
individuals must make an appointment with the property
clerk, Monday thru Thursday –
8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Police Reports – copies can be obtained by contacting
the records clerk in person or by phone. California law
specifically governs which types of reports can be released
and the clerk can determine who is eligible to receive a
copy. Traffic accident reports are normally available two
weeks after the accident is reported. A fee is charged based
upon the number of pages.

Megan’s
Law – is now available on the Internet. This office no
longer offers a computer for Megan’s Law inquiries.
Computer access is available at the County Library. The
release of this information to the public is a means of
assuring public protection and not to punish the offender.
The information may not be used to harass the offender or
commit any crime against the offender.

Mechanical
violation sign-off: bring your citation and the vehicle with
the completed repair to the Police Facility on Third Street
and contact the records clerk in the lobby. An officer will
ensure the repair has been made and can sign the proof of
correction. It is then your responsibility to return the
proof of correction to the appropriate traffic court.

ABC
approval letter - the Police Services Chief or his designee
will review and approve any requests for single-day alcohol
sale permits within the city and sign-off the applicant’s
request to the State Department of Alcohol Beverage Control
office in Stockton.
Community Programs
-
Neighborhood Watch - a crime prevention program that
enlists the participation of community members in
cooperation with police to reduce crime in their
neighborhood. The program encourages residents to get to
know their neighbors and learn how to reduce protect
themselves from criminal activity. Information
about how to start a watch group in your neighborhood can be
obtained by calling the Crime Prevention Unit at 558-8930.

Business Watch - a program designed to educate
businesses on how to deter and detect business crimes.

Operation Identification - works in concert with the two
programs listed above in which personal property is marked
with an identifying number as a means of discouraging theft
and in helping police identify property that has been lost
or stolen. An engraver can be checked out from Riverbank
Police Services by contacting 869-7162.

D.A.R.E.
/ S.C.O. – a joint project between the Riverbank Unified
School District and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s
Department. The program’s purpose is to help students
recognize and resist the many pressures that influence them
to experiment with alcohol and drugs. Officers are assigned
part-time to Rio Altura and California Avenue Elementary
Schools, and a School Resource Officer is assigned part-time
to Cardozo Middle School and Riverbank High School.
Volunteer Programs

STARS is the Sheriff’s citizen volunteer group within
the community who volunteer their time to perform many of
the duties that do not require a sworn officer. These
services include helping with crime prevention programs,
serving subpoenas, conducting vacation house checks and
neighborhood patrols. Applications can be picked up at the
Riverbank Police Facility or contact STARS representative
Roy Ottoboni at 558-8930.

Sheriff’s Explorer Program is tailored for youth
interested in a career in law enforcement. Although the
program is new to Riverbank, it has operated out of the
Sheriff’s headquarters for thirty years and many of our past
Explorers have gone on to become deputy sheriff’s or police
officers. Once trained, our explorers will assist in
performing many of the duties around the station, ride on
patrol with a regular deputy, assist detectives in special
assignments and assist with crime prevention programs and
community events. Interested youth between the ages of 15
and 21 can pick up applications at the Police Facility or
the Sheriff’s Operations Center at 250 E. Hackett Rd., or
