Municipal Elections
The City Clerk serves as the City’s Elections Official responsible for meeting the legal requirements in conducting an election and provides assistance to candidates in meeting their legal responsibilities when running for office.
Elections information provided is to assist the citizens of Riverbank during Riverbank's General Municipal Elections, which occur every even year; however, may occur on another election day if a "Special" election is called. For non-municipal elections contact the Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters/Elections.
MEMBERS OF THE RIVERBANK CITY COUNCIL - DISTRICT BASED ELECTIONS
The City Council consists of five members: Council Members for District 1, 2, 3, and 4, who are elected by-district (Amended Certified District Boundaries - Map G). This means that only Riverbank registered voters that live within the respective boundary of the District that is up for election may run as a Candidate for office and may cast a vote for the nominated Candidate in that particular District. The Mayor is elected at-large (citywide) and any eligible registered voter of Riverbank may run for this seat. Elections occur during staggered even years, which coincides with the Statewide General Elections and every four years with the Presidential Elections. For cost-savings, the City of Riverbank may consolidate its municipal elections with the statewide elections and contract with the Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters/Elections Division for election services.
