STARS
STARS is the Sheriff’s citizen volunteer group within the community who volunteer their time to perform many of the duties that do not require a sworn officer. These services include helping with crime prevention programs, serving subpoenas, conducting vacation house checks, and neighborhood patrols. Applications can be picked up at Riverbank Police Services, or contact can be made with the STARS by calling 209-558-8930.
Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Explorer Program
The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Explorer Program is tailored for youth interested in a career in law enforcement. Although the program is new to Riverbank, it has operated out of the Sheriff’s headquarters for 30 years and many of our past Explorers have gone on to become Deputy Sheriff’s or Police Officers.
Duties
Once trained, our Explorers will assist in performing many of the duties around the station, ride on patrol with a Patrol Deputy, assist detectives in special assignments, and assist with crime prevention programs and community events. Interested youth between the ages of 16 and 21 can pick up applications at Riverbank Police Services or at the Sheriff’s Operations Center, located at 250 East Hackett Road in Modesto.
