Councilmember John C. Pimentel has been a resident of Riverbank since June 1974. Before entering public service, he worked at Oak Valley Hospital and later founded Pimentel Private Care, a home care business that assisted elderly individuals with daily needs. In 2000, he served as a classroom monitor at Riverbank Christian Academy for four years. In 2019 Councilmember Pimentel joined Parkview Christian Estates, where he worked with the elderly, helping them navigate HUD housing options.
In November 2024, Councilmember Pimentel was appointed to fill the position left vacant by former Councilmember Jones Cruz on the City Council. He is an active member of several local community organizations, having joined the Love Riverbank Committee in 2021 and the Sister City Committee in 2024. He has also volunteered with Toys for Tots, organized clothing drives for Sierra House, and helped restock little libraries throughout Riverbank.
A dedicated member of Community Praise Tabernacle, Councilmember Pimentel joined the church on April 27, 1990 under Pastor Elias Jr. and Karen Cordova. Over the years, he has been involved in organizing annual Thanksgiving dinners for the Riverbank community and supporting various outreach programs, contributing to the church’s mission for over 35 years.
In his free time, Councilmember Pimentel enjoys spending time with his family in Placerville, CA, and traveling to Antipolo, Philippines. During a 21-day visit there, he embraced Filipino culture and built lifelong friendships with the Docdoc family, whom he now considers his own. An advocate for animal welfare, Pimentel adopted Charlieboy from the Modesto Animal Rescue Shelter in 2021.
Councilmember Pimentel is deeply committed to his community and continues to dedicate his time to service, both locally and abroad.
