Welcome to the City of Riverbank Community Development Department

The Community Development Department serves as a key connection between the City and its residents, developers, and business community. It is made up of three divisions working together to promote safe, sustainable, and thoughtful growth across Riverbank:

Planning Division

The Planning Division supports long-term city goals through the implementation of the City’s General Plan, zoning ordinance, and development standards. This division reviews development proposals, manages land use and zoning issues, and ensures alignment with local, county, and state regulations to maintain Riverbank’s character and vision.

Building Division

The Building Division oversees the review, permitting, and inspection of construction projects to ensure safety, code compliance, and structural integrity. The division provides guidance to property owners, contractors, and developers navigating the permitting process and building code requirements.

Code Enforcement / Neighborhood Improvement

The Code Enforcement / Neighborhood Improvement Division works proactively with residents and property owners to ensure properties are maintained in accordance with the Riverbank Municipal Code. This division focuses on resolving property maintenance issues, illegal structures, and other code violations in a fair and efficient manner.
